It was a week or so before New York Fashion Week and the sun was shining brightly in Tokyo. Although it would be autumn soon it was still sunglasses and t-shirt kind of weather.
We hadn’t met Yayoi before, we’d just spoken once or twice on the phone and exchanged a few emails. We really liked her work and, it seemed, she liked ours too. Before you know it, we were working out the details of a shoot. We didn’t have long because Yayoi was scheduled to work in New York the following week, so we arranged to meet the Sunday before she left.
Sitting in the sun on a bright afternoon in Roppongi, sipping iced lattes, we waited for Yayoi. With that brilliant smile and long, runway model legs, there was no mistaking her when she arrived.
We spent the whole day walking around Roppongi, shooting at different locations, until the weather turned bad. This shot was taken toward the end of the day as we began to lose the light. Can you work out where? For a clue, check the behind the scenes video of Yayoi in the side bar (also available in our videos section).
Thanks Yayoi, we look forward to working with you again when you get back to Japan. Perhaps something for the Winter?
