It was a simple idea, one that I’d had kicking around in the back of my head for some time but, with the winter seeming to hang on forever and constant interruptions as spring arrived , I never thought I’d get the chance. The idea was this; take a beautiful girl, lay her down on the grass in the sun and try to catch that something that makes her who she is… that thing that makes her shine.
I had wanted to shoot Chizuru from the moment we met. She just has something about her that caught my attention instantly, not to mention the most amazing smile. It took me a long time to get this shot however. For months, every time I pointed my camera at her she would change. Most people do. The camera makes them self conscious and they either act out or hide away. Then, one beautiful Sunday afternoon in June I finally caught her.
The beautiful Chizuru Suzuki.
